Welcome to the September 2023 Newsletter
We hope you all had a wonderful August and have been having a great summer. The sunshine hasn’t quite played ball with us this year, has it? But I hope you have all managed to enjoy the odd day out. Thank you to those of you who have shared your little ones’ fantastic swimming achievements over the holidays; you’ve all been working very hard and we have seen some fantastic photographs and videos. It’s also made our administrative staff very jealous of your super breaks away, near and far! Lots and lots of you enjoyed the pool for private hire recently; I hope you made some great memories and enjoyed splashing around.
Our Teachers and Assistants have been enjoying a break too from the 15th to the 28th of Aug, as you know classes were off. Our teachers, assistants, and cleaners all had a well-earned rest. We are now all back and raring to go for the new term.
Those of you at school, not long now until you are back and into a routine, well done mums, dads, and grandparents! The summer holidays can be really fun but also very exhausting! Enjoy that nice cup of tea or coffee, (perhaps something stronger?!), alone, once they are back!

August was a short swimming month for us but we packed in the fun before the break!
We kicked off the month with ‘Sensory Week’. This week, our children got to explore sensory stations, ‘falling’ into the water, holding on, and back swimming with mirrors. We use lots of equipment in these lessons to make the activities fun and engaging. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. It helps to build nerve connections in the brain and encourages the development of language and motor skills.
Week 2 took us to Space week – This week we focused on the baby and childrens balance and coordination. We used lots of equipment to explore space on our woggles, avoiding the meteors, flying on spaceships, and floating to look at the stars.

Academy
Our Academy swimmers have been working hard on their rotations in the water, our Sea Turtle swimmers worked on their front and back paddle, body position, and their legs. We practised sinkers in the water and push-and-glides. Our Eagle Ray swimmers were introduced to competitive push-and-glides. They worked on breaststroke; arms, then legs. Sealions were tasked with mastering their dolphin leg kicks, which was really great to see. Dolphin and Whale classes worked also on their competitive starts and their body positions and we saw some super front and back crawl drill work.
Everybody worked very hard this month and we look forward to seeing you all back in the pool this week.

Mini Splash Time – Each and every Monday, Thursday & Friday during term time.
Come and enjoy some swim time at the Lexden Pool. You may be looking to build on confidence, work on a particular skill , or simply enjoy some extra time in the water with your little one(s) . The Lexden Pool is heated to a beautiful 33 degrees. We have changing facilities and some pool toys for you to enjoy. Max of 6 sets of parents and children per session.
The cost is £9.00 for 1 hour for 1 adult and 1 child. £2.00 for an additional adult or sibling.

First baby swim
We loved welcoming Henry, Martha, Lilty, George, Abert, Hugh and Lottie to Mini Swimming. They each enjoyed a private swim to start and are now booked into group classes. If you have a little one due, or recently born, we would love to welcome you.

At Mini Swimming we love to recognise brilliance. Our hall of fame is dedicated to our swimmers of the week, highlights of the week and teacher awards.
