May has been a super busy month for us all here at Mini Swimming!
We kicked it all off with Assessment week, where we tested all our swimmers on the water skills they have learned this year. We have had the privilege of handing out an unprecedented number of badges and certificates and our teachers could not stop talking about how amazing all their swimmers were.
If you would still like your certificate and badge, all you need to do is pop down to the Stanway Pool and we can write it up for you there and then or, if you are based at a different pool, bring the right money and your slip and we will ensure it is posted to you (£1.20 for certificates, £2.50 for badges and £1.50 for postage). If you cannot find your slip, give us a call and we will let you know what your little swimmer achieved. (We are still awaiting a special order of Sea Turtle 1 and 2 badges – so if you are waiting for these, the delivery is due in a week or so!)

Baby and Pre-school Classes

We swapped from some rainbow swimming, where we worked on our back swimming last week, and we end May with our special Jubilee week.
The Queen has let us know of a special visit and we are not prepared, but with your help her visit will be seamless we are sure. Some of you may spot her on your visit to our pools. If you take a selfie, don’t forget to post it on Facebook!
Our youngest academy children have been working hard on back swimming and also breast stroke, which for many will be the first time they have tried this stroke. Our teachers have been so impressed with the ease with which these little people have grasped what is a rather difficult skill! We’ve seen some brilliant whip kicks and are excited to practise this more. Our Sealions and Dolphins have also been working on mastering breaststroke and also their competitive push and glides. Many of our Sealions and Dolphins go on to swim competitively, so we like to ensure that they have the right skills to get them accepted at club level at the right time. I’m Siobhan, I am a teacher here at Mini Swimming.
I am married to Andy and together we have our three crazy children Nixon 8, Crewe 6, and Calea 2 years.
I was a parent that came to Mini Swimming when Nixon was only a baby. Once having my second child I decided to leave my role as Montessori Nursery Manager and find something that would easily fit alongside our growing family. I saw that Mini Swimming was advertising for swim teachers and four years later here I am enjoying myself teaching our fun and exciting lessons.
Mini Swimming is such a fun place to work especially as I get to enjoy the company of all the children of all ages and of course their families too! Learning to swim for me is such an essential skill but also such a great way to have fun as a family!

Looking ahead to June
June will see some of our most loved lesson plans coming back. We have a special appearance from Mother Duck up first and a chance to take a submersion with your baby (there is nothing quite like seeing them under the water – bring your goggles!). We shall then be yee-haaing to the Wild West! There will be cowboy hats aplenty, tin can alley for all to play and you must all practise your Yee-Haa jumps! Watch our teachers lose their voices as they give “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain” their absolute all! That’s not all; we have some more classics this month, to include Row Row Row Your Boat and the Hokey Cokey, so bring your best singing voices!
The academy children will be working on rotation which is great for two reasons. Firstly, it’s one of the most important life saving skills, so that if your children fall into water face down (as they often do) they can rotate to their backs and call for help. Secondly, when your children start to get better at swimming and swim longer distances, rotation is how they’ll deal with the ends of the pool. Our older academy children will have a medley of breaststroke, front crawl and butterfly. Butterfly is often found as the hardest stroke, but it can also be the most rewarding as so few children master it, if yours does then they’ll feel amazing! Our teachers have plenty of knowledge and tips to get everyone’s bodies rolling for that perfect dolphin leg kick.

Private Lessons
We have a few slots for private lessons available, times and days below . A private lesson is one child with one teacher for 30 mins with the whole pool to yourselves. The cost is £33 per lesson or £186 for 6 booked together.

First baby swim
We loved welcoming: Frederik, Emilie, Edward, Hattie, Arrabella, Mar, Arthur, Dahli, Florence, Amelia, Harrison, Ethan, Leila, Freddie, Atlas and Felicia in May to Mini Swimming. At Mini Swimming we love to recognise brilliance. Our Hall of Fame is dedicated to our Swimmers of the Week, Highlights of the Week and Teacher Awards. New Beginner Classes Added
We have extended our Saturday teaching schedule out and have created new classes at our Stanway pool from 3 – 6pm for non-swimmers and improving swimmers. If you have a friend looking for lessons please pass along our details and remember that if they quote you when they book you will get two free classes as a thank you from us.
