November has absolutely flown by and we have fitted in so many things here at Mini Swimming!
As always, thank you to all of our swimmers for getting involved in all of our theme weeks and water safety lessons. It really makes our job so much easier when everyone is so keen to get stuck in and enjoy themselves.

Thank you to everybody who contributed to the Children In Need week, we really had some great fun in the pool. We are delighted to have raised £233.48 in the collection buckets which we have matched, meaning that we have donated fantastic £466.96 to this great cause!
Fireworks week
We celebrated Bonfire Night with a special themed lesson plan for the occasion. We had some new equipment for this too, and our light-up balls went down an absolute treat, especially with the smallest members of Mini Swimming! Our seahorses did an amazing attempt at being rockets shooting across the pool and being Catherine Wheels. We finished off making some big splashes with our firework jumps!
Balls & Backs
We went back to a classic lesson plan for week two of November, here we dug out some of our favourite rhymes; including Wind the Bobbin Up, and Hickory Dickory Dock. We also looked at our socialisation skills and how babies and toddlers begin to learn to share. We were so impressed with how the little ones took to this as well!
Go Fishing
Lots of you were super excited to get the chance to catch some fish in your nets. We worked on those fast kicky legs to make sure all the fish were captured and taken to safety before the sharks were let loose! All of our seahorses did a fantastic job being sharks with their fins on – some of you even managed by yourself, which was amazing!
Hop, Skip & Jump!
This week we worked on our front swimming, some vertical jumps and playing peek-a-boo. These activities encourage those beautiful baby kicks. We had a little snooze along to sleeping bunnies and our small ones tried a manta ray submersion. We finished off holding onto the bar, which as we all know, is so very important as a water safety skill.

Academy Swimmers
As well as carrying on with their stroke development, our academy swimmers had the chance to take part in a special water safety session in aid of Children In Need. This saw the teachers and children turn up and swim in their pyjamas, where we worked on the skills of rolling over (log rolls and horizontal rolling for our Sea Turtles) and treading water. All of our swimmers then learnt about how to remove their pyjamas in the water and what to do if they should ever fall into water. Our higher level swimmers got the chance to try out side stroke and lifesaving backstroke and then everyone had a chance to learn about rescues. We hope all the swimmers took something away from this special lesson, We hope to repeat this again in 2023.
Our academy swimmers will now continue to work on their strokes ready for a distance assessment week, due to commence on 5th December.
All academy swimmers will then have a chance to purchase a certificate for the distance they have achieved (which will be £1.20 if collected from Stanway or £2.70 for us to post to you – there are no badges for distances sadly! – cash only!).
We know that there is a lot going on at this time of year and we would like to thank all our Mini Swimming families for continuing to support us. We love seeing you all!

Hi, I’m Scarlett!
I am a swimming coordinator here at Mini Swimming. I have always had a passion for sports and have done gymnastics since I was young, more recently coaching younger groups. I have aspirations to go into teaching and work in a school environment so I feel very lucky to be able to support the children each week at Mini Swimming.
Mini Swimming is a place where children learn and develop but most importantly have fun in the water! My favourite part of the job is seeing the children excited and pleased with themselves once they’ve finished their lessons- and I love hearing all about it. I also love to see the friendships they are forming each week with their Mini Swimming friends!

Looking ahead to December
December will see us working hard on distance assessments for our academy swimmers, we will also be making sure that the last swim of the year is focused on fun and excitement. There will be a special Christmas themed lesson for everyone to end the year with – there will be chimney slides, a reindeer train, lots of competitions and fun and games!
We have the following planned to take us to the end of the year:

Private Hire
The pools in Lexden and Stanway are available for private hire. We have the last few remaining slots for Christmas Availability also!
Enjoy our beautifully warm pools all to yourself or share some swim time with a friend or family. There is a maximum of 4 adults and 4 children for any booking in most cases. The pool is exclusively yours for one hour including changing time. We offer private hire as a one-off ad-hoc event or a repeated booking at the same time every week for 6 weeks. The benefit of booking in blocks of 6 is that firstly it’s cheaper per session and secondly your slot is reserved for you for the weeks beyond your 6 weeks. We always give our regular slot bookers first opportunity to book again before the slot is released for others to book in.
All £50 for one hour.

Mini Splash Time
Come and enjoy some swim time at the Lexden Pool. You may be looking to build on confidence, work on a particular skill , or simply enjoy some extra time in the water with your little one(s) . The Lexden Pool is heated to a beautiful 33 degrees. We have changing facilities and some pool toys for you to enjoy. Max of 6 sets of parents and children per session.
The cost is £7.00 for 1 hour for 1 adult and 1 child. £2.00 for an additional adult or sibling.
There is no teacher but there will be a lifeguard present.

First baby swim
It has been a very busy month for First Baby Swim sessions and we loved welcoming Jillian, Harry, Aaron, Rowan, Marnie, George, Heath, Evangeline, Luna, Isla, William, Jasper, Oscar and Nailah to Mini Swimming. They each enjoyed a private swim to start and are now booked into group classes. If you have a little one due or recently born we would love to welcome you too! Just give us a call and we can talk you through exactly what the first baby swim package is all about.

Hall of Fame
All of our teachers are constantly looking for children in their classes who have achieved something for the first time or made a special effort in their classes. These special moments should be rewarded and our Hall of Fame is dedicated to our Swimmers of the Week, Highlights of the Week, and Teacher Awards. We try to take as many pictures as we can, but if your child has had an award and we didn’t manage to get a snap, we would love it if you can share their photo with their certificate with us so we can add them to the hall of fame.
You will see that we have fantastic new selfie frames at each of the pools too –
